A study in Saudi Arabia has concluded that the practice of allowing men

to

marry up to four wives is the principal cause of divorce in the

Kingdom.

The report from the sociology department of King Saud University in

Riyadh

said that the Saudi courts grant between twenty-five and thirty-five

divorces a day, with most occurring in the first three years of

marriage.

The study also found that most divorced women had married under the age

of

twenty.

The report also said other common grounds for divorce were interference

by

other family members and age difference.
